we can dream

Today I spent my time staring at this....

But all I could think about was something like this....

Or this...

I often dream about what it would be like to change direction and jump head first into a career in the food and wine industry.  What a magical experience it would be to put a smile on people's faces each day through the things you cook and the atmosphere you create.  Mother thinks I would struggle to cope with the constant criticism... Not sure where she gets that from!

Anyway, yesterday my sister and I indulged in the concept a little and we shared ideas.  As always, Anna had a couple of images at hand for the occassion....  Thanks for the inspiration again Bella.

Perhaps one day.

Until then, I will continue to think about all the great things we could offer at the real life, Sam's Table.

Happy eating!!!

Sam

  1. I hear you Sam! I've even got a name in mind for my little venture! You must ask Anna about Sparrow Kitchen & Bar where the girls took her last Friday - a gorgeous space and great food. There's somethings special about a good dining space - it really brings the food to life, makes it tactile and all consuming.

  2. Yes we can dream. Did you know that this is one of my most favourite quotes of all time and one that I remind myself of almost everyday of my life...

"Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me where laughter falls like lemon drops away above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow skys are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true."

You will do this, I know you will.

  3. I think there must be a lot of people out there like us Kate... I'd love to know how many people have actually made the plunge successfully. Anna hasn't stopped raving about this Sparrow Kitchen and Bar place since she arrived home... Apparently it is a must if I ever make it to Adelaide, which I hope will be in the not too distant future!

  6. Do it! Your food and eye for detail could bring it all to life in a great space with great food. I love these pics...a little bit of industrial and exposed brick, love that.

  7. If you keep having that dream, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. Someone wiser than me said something to the effect that it is infinitely better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. I'm not sure how your blog functions for you, but it turns out that mine is focusing my many interests into a dream that I can build a plan and eventually make a reality. Keep posting your dreams!
